Historical Background Of The College

Foundation

Mater Dei College, Udi, is a mixed Catholic mission school founded on the 19th of August, 2011 by Rev. Fr. Victor Ogbozor with the help of the parish council and Catholic faithful of St Mary Pro-Cathederal, Udi. While Fr IG Emefoh succeeded Fr Victor Ogbozor as school administrator in January, 2016, Mr. Richard Ekwe was the pioneer principal, whose tenure ended in December, 2021. Fr Emefoh handed over to Fr Richard Okpuisi in February, 2023. Currently, Fr Celestine Okorie is the school administrator. Mr. Aloysius Uchechukwu Anyanwu is the principal of Mater Dei College, Udi since December, 2021. Since 2017, Mater Dei College has been successfully conducting SSCE for qualified SS3 students.

Facilities

Mater Dei College runs separate boarding schools for both boys and girls with modern facilities. For academic blocks, there are 12 classrooms, laboratories, stores, a digital library/ICT centre and staff rooms, as well as offices are contained in the first 3-storey building of the college. There is also a bungalow adjacent to the major storey building, which is housing extra senior classrooms, and other administrative offices. Mater Dei College, Udi shares neighbourhood with premier primary school, Petraeus hotels, Udi district police station, district hospital and the local government headquarters, Udi.
